The annual Miss High School America pageant finally happened last week after being postponed for COVID, which means we *finally* have some pageant news to talk about! Are you pumped? I'm pumped.
The Miss High School America program offers four age divisions: Miss Elementary, Miss Jr. High, Miss High School, and Miss Collegiate and provides personal and professional opportunities for women across the country. They award over $400,000 in scholarships to their winners as well as travel, wardrobe, photoshoots and more. Oh! And this year Miss Collegiate America won a Jeep Wrangler. I'm officially jealous.
If you're not familiar with this program, girls compete in 3 phases of competition:
1, A five-minute, panel style interview
2. Evening gown
3. Fun Fashion
As someone who never had the opportunity to compete in a Fun Fashion competition, I've always been excited by the glamour, the fun walking patterns, and the creativity each girl brings. Check out some of my favorite fun fashion looks from the competition.
Miss Indiana High School America
I love the sleeves on this! It's giving me all the Kendall Jenner at the Met Gala vibes. Plus, black is such a unique color especially in the teen division. Usually black can be kind of risky but I think her fun pony and two-toned earrings really bring some FUN to Fun Fashion.
Miss Arizona High School America
This girl is WORKIN it! I love that the cape is attached to the wrist. It definitely creates the opportunity for a lot of movement and she is taking advantage of it!
Miss Pennsylvania High School America
Holy moly! Can you imagine how incredibly dramatic it was when this girl threw off this skirt and started strutting?! Skirt aside, I'm also obsessed with her earrings. They're giving me 70s throwback vibes and I'm living for it.
Miss Florida High School America
I love a good lime green wardrobe choice. I once competed with a girl who wore a ballgown very similar to this and it was incredible. I love the full skirt on this and the ruching of the top. I don't think the style is all that spectacular but the color really makes it a standout piece.
Miss District of Columbia High School America
Something about this hi-low skirt seems really cool to me. Maybe it's the color or how full the top of the skirt is but I really like it. The fit of the jeweled top really works for her and I appreciate her choice for simple matching shoes.
What do you guys think? Should I try out a Fun Fashion competition in the future? Who knows what the future might hold!
Congrats to the new High School America titleholders! Miss Collegiate America is Ronelle Valera from Hawaii. Miss High School America is Haleigh Hurst from Guam. Miss Jr High America is Sophie Pittman from North Carolina.
Until next time...
